CHARACTERISTICS:
Westco™ 316 combines the high activity of BHT with
the low volatility of high molecular weight
antioxidants.
Westco™ 316 is recommended for use in rubber
compounds using phenolic antioxidants, e.g. in
caulks and sealants, molded rubber articles and
adhesives.
It may also find use in the stabilization of polyols
used in urethane foams, where it can replace BHT,
which is being phased out by the industry. It is an
excellent antioxidant for polyolefins, particularly
LLlDPE. Westco™ 316 is recommended as an economical
replacement for Antioxidant 1076 in many
applications, especially polystyrene, due to its
lower cost, higher activity and liquid form.
Westco™ 316 is also used in a variety of lubricants
and industrial oils.
